As I thought about what we accomplished during our third week of workouts, I realized that we are getting closer to where we need to be as a team.
We did a lot of work in our two days this past week. Offensively we concentrated on situational hitting. Sometimes it is hard for younger players to understand there are situations where they can be productive and still make an out. We did a lot of runner on second and runner on third situations.
Defensively we are still moving players around trying to find the right mix. I think we are going to be a very solid defensive unit. That is very important, because we stress to our pitchers to throw strikes and trust our defense.
Pitching seems to be very solid. With the core of our staff returners, the newcomers have to take the opportunity that is given to them and run with it.
Off the field, our Cardinals participated in the North Country Down Syndrome Association Buddy Walk on Sunday.
