Looking back on the second week of fall practice, I realized how much that our players do off the baseball field representing our program.
Our players are always supporting the other teams on campus. This past week our entire squad was at the women's volleyball match on Tuesday and then the women's soccer match on Saturday night. Last week they attended a pair of men's and women's soccer matches.
After a long and hard day of practice at the field on Saturday, our players split into two groups to perform some community service. One group participated in the Plattsburgh Rotary Club bed race which was part of the Battle of Plattsburgh festivities, while another group went with Coach Doorey to offer help at the FEMA shelter in the town of Jay, NY. Earlier this fall our returning players participated in the Run for Jon event in Peru, NY.
On Sunday morning, our players could be seen weeding the bullpens, doing some landscaping, and cleaning up the surrounding areas at Chip Cummings Field. They like to take pride in the nest facility in the SUNYAC.
All in all, when I take the time to step back and look at what our players do besides play baseball, it makes me extremely proud to be their coach.
