Proud past . . . bright future

Last weekend was a mixture of reminiscing about the past of Cardinal baseball and seeing the brightness of the future.

We had our 7th Annual Alumni Game on Saturday afternoon as over 25 former Plattsburgh State baseball players returned to campus. Plattsburgh State Hall of Fame members Gary Butler and John Carpenter, along with former standout Tom Loughan were there to represent the Golden Era of Cardinal baseball. Ken Kesterman was in attendance to represent the Club Years, while numerous players from the Modern Era returned to Chip Cummings Field.

Sunday we had our fall play date against Clinton Community College. We played extremely well. We used 11 pitchers in 16 innings of play, and I thought they pitched well for the most part. Offensively, I was very excited to see our new players hit against different pitchers, and I was thoroughly impressed with what I witnessed. Defensively we did what we needed to do. I do not believe that we made any glaring mistakes, but there is still room for improvement.

We end our non-traditional season with a five-game, cumulative run series beginning Thursday. Look for updates . . .
